19 Years

I am 19 now. Nineteen doesn't really feel like an age. It feels more like a stepping stone on the way to 20, when you're no longer a teen. And then to 21 when the world becomes your cocktail. I still had an amazing birthday, though. I got to go shopping with my mom and get my nails done with my cousin. I also procured these lovely flowers from my dad and stepmom. Lilies are my favorite flower. This week is the week of Rush, AKA formal recruitment for the Greek sororities here at Ole Miss. I'm scared out of my mind, but it's all going to be just fine. I just have to remember to be myself and smile.

Surviving Oxford

On June 26, I packed up all my things and moved into a dorm at the University of Mississippi. I am in the Jumpstart program, which is basically just summer school for incoming freshmen that lasts about 4 weeks. My cousin and I are roommates, but just for those 4 weeks. Of course, I waited until the last second to start packing, but I managed to get it all under control. This was only about half of the stuff I brought up here.
(yes, i used pictures from my instagram because really, who has time to take EXTRA pictures when you're moving into college)
After a LONG day of driving, meeting my roommate for the fall in her hometown, and having a delicious milkshake, we finally got to the campus. There were people EVERYWHERE. It took quite a while to get moved in, but we got our room all set up.
The first day of classes, I was terrified! I wasn't 100% sure about where my classes were, and I didn't have anything except some paper and a pencil. My cousin and I woke up far too early because we didn't know how long it would take to get ready and walk to class. Because we got up so early, we had a lot of extra time to sit in the Circle, people-watch, and listen to the birdies.
So far, I've only been here for five days. Everything is still a little new and scary, but I'm getting the hang of things. It definitely helps to have such a lovely campus and nice people all around who are happy to help. I don't think I could've picked a better school to go to.

Date Night!

I'm leaving for college in a week! I feel strange and excited and scared! But anyways, since I'll be leaving soon, I forced Richard to take me on a proper date, since we normally just sit at his house playing video games, which isn't that bad of a way to pass the time. (Once again, only had my phone for pictures, so ignore the awful quality)
We did play video games for a liiiittle while today, but it was The Walking Dead game! No one can pass that up! While we were fighting the undead horde, Richard's mom came in and gave me a bunch of free lip gloss she got from her mom!
It has Tarte lip gloss! Tarte is expensive! And I got it for free! Of course I had to try some on and take selfies because I am, after all, a white girl.
After a while, we FINALLY went to dinner at Biaggi's for our fancy date! I was feeling a bit dizzy, but what else is new. Richard LOVES kalamari, so we got some. I didn't think it was too bad, but apparently it wasn't up to Richard's standards. He has the taste buds of a Parisian food critic. We both got lasagna and ate pretty much all of it, but the waitress apparently thought we wanted to take home the teaspoon of sauce left on our plates. We spent most of dinner talking about video games and movies, as per usual.
After our lovely date, we went back to Richard's house to watch Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters! It was actually a really good movie! Not meant for children, but good for us strange teens. We played with Pancho, Richard's bearded dragon, and lulled Richard's dog to sleep with rock and roll. All of his pets have a strange appreciation of hard core guitar solos.
All in all, it was a nice day. Hopefully I can have another one like it before I head off to the land of parties and higher education.

Beach vacation!

Last Thursday through Sunday, I went to Gulfport with my boyfriend and his family. We had so much fun! I don't have many pictures, and the ones I have aren't that great because I didn't bring my camera. But I'll post a few on here. Like I said, it was fun, but its always weird to vacation with people other than your family. Everyone does things differently. Also, my boyfriend, who just recently got his driver's license, drove us down there and we didn't die! He actually did pretty well! Ok, so i still don't know how this blogging thing works, so here's my crappy pictures!

We went to McDonald's at his dad's request because, well, ya gotta do what Woody says. But we're kinda cute, so it was ok.
Then we went to Sharkhead's, which is one of those beach giftshops that has beach towels and a lot of stuff made of shells. But this one also had a giant shark head, a smaller shark head, and a dolphin!

On the last night, we went fishing off of a pier. We both caught one fish each, but they were cute and little so we threw them back.

So yeah. All in all, it was a nice trip! Hopefully soon I'll figure out this website and get my blog looking a little more artsy fartsy.
